Application process
- Contact CIRNAC Yukon regional office for a copy of the application form, and prepare the following documents:
- your letter of acceptance or proof of registration from your school
- your most recent transcripts
- your current status card (front and back)
- proof from Canada Revenue Agency of any dependents you may have
- documentary evidence of your tuition and mandatory student fees
- direct deposit information
- Submit your completed application form and documents listed above by email, mail or by dropping them off to the Yukon regional office.
- Within approximately 2 weeks, you will receive a letter informing you whether or not your application was approved.
- the approval letter will tell you the amount of funding you will receive
- you will need to sign 2 copies of the "Tuition Letter" that accompanies your approval letter. The Tuition Letter allows us to pay your tuition directly to your school, and also allows the school to share information with us about what courses you are taking, your attendance and your grades. You must provide 1 signed original copy to your school and 1 to the Yukon regional office
- we recommend keeping a copy of the Tuition Letter for your records
- Once your school has received the signed Tuition Letter, they will be able to invoice us directly for your tuition and mandatory fees.
- To complete your direct deposit setup you will receive an email notifying you of a test deposit to your bank account. Reply to the email to confirm you have received the test deposit.
- If you are eligible for living expenses, you will receive money at the beginning of each month you are in school.
- If you are pre-approved for travel costs, you are required to submit receipts for your travel. Yukon region will reimburse you for eligible costs only.
Application deadlines and approvals
Students are encouraged to plan ahead and apply for funding as early as possible.

- Spring (May) enrolment: March 15th
Approximately 2 weeks after receiving your completed application and the required documents listed above, you will be notified whether or not your application has been approved.

For members of other First Nations, Inuit and Métis
The Yukon regional office only processes applications for registered status First Nations members of Kluane First Nation, Ross River Dena Council, Daylu Dena Council, Dease River First Nation and First Nations students from the Northwest Territories who have lived in the Yukon for 12 consecutive months.
First Nations students from other First Nations in the Yukon region can apply for funding from their First Nation and should contact them directly
If you are registered with a self-governing Yukon First Nation, but are not a citizen of that First Nation, you may be able to receive funding from the Yukon regional office – to learn more, contact us or your First Nation.
Other Indigenous students: consult the Post-Secondary Education page for information on how to apply.
If you are unsure about how and where to apply for funding or if you are encountering challenges in applying, contact us or your First Nation for assistance.
